Vs. Mode is a game mode in Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space that allows 2-4 players use either a team of Time Sweepers or Tom Toms to fight each other in custom-made fights. It is also the only mode in MOTAS where certain weapons, like the Heavy Tub and Satellite, can be used in battle and allows Time Sweepers to use Tom Tom weapons.

For every 5 battles a Time Sweeper or Tom Tom team completes, a NPC appears in the respective hub world. If you achieve 100 wins with your Tom Tom team, you'll unlock tank parts that are much larger and powerful than your default ones.

Blinx 2 Manual Description

In Vs. Mode you and your friends can cut loose and battle the way you want! Playing in Vs. Mode is different in many ways from the Single Player and Two-Player Modes. Here are some of the differences.

  • Two to four players can fight at the same time either individually or in teams. After you’ve played a match, you can save your match and team information for future use.
  • You can set options such as number of rounds, lengths of the rounds, and the victory requirements.
  • You can give orders to your team members to attack, seek out items, or wait while you move around by yourself. Press the black button to switch among these commands.
  • You can use equipment and weapons only available in Vs. Mode, including jetpacks and special barriers.
  • During each battle, weapons, ammo, and Time and Space Controls appear on the battlefield. Be on the lookout for these and get to them before your opponents.
  • You can pick up weapons you find on the battlefield, but you may have to search for the right kind of ammo if they’re not loaded.
  • When you take out an enemy player, you’ll see colored orbs come raining down. Stronger opponents give up more orbs, whereas weaker opponents give up fewer, and you can’t collect orbs of your own color. Snatch up as many as you can to gain points; the player with the most points wins the match!
  • You can use Time or Space Controls in special ways available only in Vs. Mode. For example, REW makes your opponents revert to an infant state, making them smaller and more vulnerable. Experiment with your controls to see what happens!

Setting Overall Rules

Matches can be customised from a simple to complex degree. Rules include:

  • Stage - You can select your battle stage: Weis Island, Ancient Ruins, Cage of Ice, Sky Castle, Tom Tom HQ or Time Factory
  • Rules - Choose the rules for your battle: Battle Royale (free-for-all) or Cats vs Pigs (Time Sweepers vs Tom Toms).
  • Goal Score - 10, 20 or 30 points before a battle goes into overtime.
  • Number of Battles - Number of battles in a game. Choose from 1 to 5 sets.
  • Time Limit for Each Battle - Set a time limit for a battle. Choose from 1 to 5 minutes.
  • Radar Display Setting - Default ON.
  • Detail Settings
    • Character Respawn Time - How long it takes for a character to reappear, from 0 to 10 seconds.
    • Tank Limit - Choose if tanks are allowed to be used.
    • Weapons Limit - Limit which weapon types appear on the battle field.
    • Time Crystal Limit - Limit which time crystals can be used.
    • Space Control Limit - Limit which space controls can be used.

Team Orders

You can give orders to your team members to change their behaviour in battle. Using this at the right times can be a huge advantage. Press the black button to switch among the commands: ATTACK, RECOVER, WAIT and TRAIL.

Time Control Effects

In Vs. Mode, Time Controls are used differently than they are in Story Mode. If you are hit while utilising a Time Control, the Time Control will automatically deactivate so be careful so they last for the full duration.

  • REW is used to make opponents vulnerable and tiny, unable to double jump or use weapons. They are thrown further when shot by most weapons (excluding energy weapons, the Slingshot, TS-3000I LV2, TS-3000F LV2 and Crossbow).
  • FF works the same as usual.
  • PAUSE suspends the opponent's projectiles in mid-air as soon they are fired, though opponents can still move around. The player who activate the PAUSE control can take advantage of this and sweep up the suspended trash. After the PAUSE has ended, however, the projectiles will continue on their intended path, so caution must be used.
  • REC makes an invincible copy of the player and their teammates who chase after the opponents.
  • SLOW works the same as usual.

Using Tanks

To use Tanks, you must first complete the Tom Tom missions in World 3. To use them in battle, go to Team Settings > Tank Selection. Choose on the tanks in your garage and your tank will be selected. Be warned, firing at or running over your teammates while driving will cause them to shoot the tank, causing unnecessary damage!

To decrease an opponent tank's HP, continuously perform direct attacks upon it. After all the HP of a tank has depleted, the tank will explode, and the tank driver will fly out of it slightly harmed.

Orbs

As you defeat your opponents, orbs will appear where they were eliminated. Coloured orbs will fly out depending on the team your opponent was on (green, red, blue and yellow for the four teams respectively). Stronger opponents will give off more orbs than a weaker one, depending on their HP and kill streak. Tanks give more orbs when they are totally destroyed. The weakest opponents are only worth one point. Opponents with 100 HP who are getting kills are usually worth four points. The strongest opponents who have a kill streak will be worth as much as six points (possibly higher).

So don’t leave your spot after you defeat an enemy for orbs will appear in the same area right after. Orbs will disappear after a short time, but enough time that if you die while collecting them, you can run back to find them in the same place (unless an opponent team has already collected them!)

Results

After finishing a battle, the results will appear. Beside each name are stars, skulls and the number of points collected. Stars represent the number of kills made, big stars being worth five kills and little stars one. Skulls signify the number of deaths. The total score of the team is the sum of points collected.

Credit Shop

The credit shop is accessible at the end of every battle right after the results. Teams receive 100 CR (credits) per point collected. If your team did not collect any points, you will still recieve 200 CR to spend. You can spend your earned credits on items and weapons to take into the next set. Spend your credits wisely and if you are about to enter into the final round, be sure to use all of your credits on different things so they don't go to waste.

Final Results

There are two final results screens after the Final Round is complete. The first screen shows an award ceremony whereby various teammates and teams will receive awards, adding bonus points to their final score (see 'Awards' section). The second screen shows the Final Results whereby the final winning team will be standing on a raised platform. This will show how much Gold each team has received at the end and how many total points each team received which led them to their various positions. Earned gold is sent to the save team's wallet.
