Carlos
Carlos is a Tom Tom making his first and only appearance in Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space. He is the shopkeeper of the Tom-Tom Gang's shop and holds training sessions rather than stealing from other worlds as most do.
Appearance
Carlos is a masculine/husky male anthropomorphic pig with Caucasian skin, brown curly hair reaching just below his neck and a large brown mustache on the sides of his snout. The entirety of his left arm is tattooed, while only his right bicep is tattooed. He wears a tall red beanie hat with a pom-pom on the tip and yellow sunglasses. His outfit consists of a yellow muscle shirt reaching just above his navel, green pants with suspenders, red boots, and fingerless gray gloves.
Personality
The demeanour of Carlos varies strongly, ranging from patient and supportive of Tom Toms in training to mischievous, irritable, or sarcastic. Though he doesn't show ill will towards Tom Toms in training, he comments on the performance of Tom Toms returning from other worlds to exchange their findings for gold, oftentimes in a derogatory manner. Tom Toms who exit his shop without making any purchase are often berated, as well. Bombay also suggests that he's dishonest, claiming that he was sold empty cans of spray paint that Carlos insisted were new.
Role
His stock in the shop includes weapons, weapon accessories, space controls, food, and clothing, though the latter is primarily of a comical variety. The products sold are Tom Tom products, as shown on the labels of many. For convenience, he made a shortcut from his shop to the locker rooms (citing boredom). His training of other Tom Toms includes both new recruits and experienced members taking a rank up exam, in which case he awards the member with a new badge upon passing. Similarly, he oversees the integration of new members into teams of Tom Toms, requiring a new member to pass a training activity before being registered. In addition to mandated training, he also offers training exercises that can be undertaken at will, giving tokens based on performance that can be exchanged for prizes. The greatest prize, given only to Tom Toms who turn in all attainable tokens simultaneously, is a photo titled “Bromide,” which is a full-body shot of Carlos himself, likely as a joke. All training exercises take place outdoors at the Tom Tom HQ. Notably, he is capable of operating a tank before the Tom Tom Gang ever acquires one.
Name Etymology
The meaning of the name Carlos is strong in French or manly in Spanish. How fitting.
